오늘은 그와 비슷한 표현 하나를 가져와 봤어요. 바로 “(be) up to speed (on /with something)”라는 표현인데요.
up to speed는 직역하면 속도를 내다 정도의 의미 인데요.
관용적으로는 무언가 '최신소식을 알게 된 상태'이다 라는 표현이 됩니다.
거기에 bring, keep, get 같은 동사나 be동사와 함께 사용되어 누군가의 정보의 수준을 다른사람에게 맞춰 같은 수준으로 끌어올리는 느낌으로 '~에게 필요한 정보를 주다', '상황을 이해하다 (/시키다)'라는 뜻으로 비즈니스 맥락에서 자주 사용된다고 합니다.
'stay on top'보다 조금 더 활용도가 높을 것 같네요.
