'Friends'와 영어공부 # 29 : Chandler Quits His Job

 

Chadler는 지금 하고 있는 일이 정말 자신이 원하던 일인지 고민하게 되던 중 상사에게 승진을 제안 받게 됩니다. 

 

 

Phoebe : Hey you guys! Chandler's coming and he says he has, like, this incredible news, so when he gets here, we could all act like, you know...  

Phoebe : 얘들아! Chadler가 오고 있는데, 아주 놀라운 소식을 말해줄 거야, 그러니까 걔가 오면 우리 모두...
Chandler : Hey! 

Chandler : 안녕!
All : Hey! 

All : 안녕!
Phoebe : Never mind. But it was going to be really good. 

Phoebe : 아니다, 신경 쓰지 마. 정말 재밌었을 것 같지만.
Ross : What's going on? 

Ross : 무슨 일이야?
All : What is it? 

All : 뭔데?
Chandler : So, it's a typical day at work. I'm inputting my numbers, and big Al calls me into his office and tells me he wants to make me processing supervisor. 

Chandler : 전형적인 회사에서의 하루였지. 내가 번호를 입력하고 있었는데 big Al이 사무실로 불러서 나를 정보처리 관리자로 승진시키겠다고 하더라고.
All : That's great! 

All : 그거 잘됐네!
Chandler : So.... I quit. 

Chandler : 그래서... 회사를 관뒀어.
All : Why? 

All : 왜?
Chandler : Why? This was supposed to be a temp job! 

Chandler : 왜냐고? 이건 임시직이었어야 하니까.
Monica : Yeah, Chandler... you've been there for five years. 

Monica : 그래, Chandler.. 그런데 넌 벌써 5년째 거기 다니고 있잖아.
Chandler : If I took this promotion, it'd be like admitting that this is what I actually do. 

Chandler : 내가 그 승진을 받아들이면, 그게 내 진짜 직업이라고 인정하는 것 같잖아. 
Phoebe : So was it a lot more money? 

Phoebe : 돈은 많이 주겠데?
Chandler : It doesn't matter. I just don't want to be one of those guys that's in his office until twelve o'clock at night worrying about the WENUS. 

Chandler : 상관없어. 난 그저 밤 12시까지 사무실에 앉아 WENUS에 대해 걱정하는 사람이 되고 싶지 않을 뿐이야. 

Rachel : ... the WENUS? 

Rachel : ... WENUS ?

Rachel : Oh. That WENUS.

자주 쓰이는 영어 회화 패턴/표현/단어:

 

get (here /there /장소) : get here = 오다, get there = 가다, get 뒤에 here, there 또는 특정 장소를 붙이면 : ...에 도착하다
